Editorial Policy

Every clinic on TRT Picks is scored 1–10 using a fixed, weighted rubric. Scores are derived only from documented evidence we collect — never from opinion, and never from how much a clinic pays us.

Price verification

An automated job checks each clinic's starting price against its own live page every week. A price that still matches refreshes that clinic's “Verified” date; a price that goes unconfirmed for 45 days is automatically relabeled “Last confirmed” rather than continuing to say “Verified” past its expiration. Clinics that don't publish pricing show “Price on consultation,” never an invented number. If the live price no longer matches what we have on file, it's flagged for a human to review and update the underlying evidence before we change what's published — so a number can go stale-and-labeled-as-such automatically, but a price change never gets applied to the site without a person confirming it.

FDA warning letters — scored, not just disclosed

A clinic holding an openFDA warning letter over misleading or misbranded marketing has its Transparency & Trust score capped at 4.0 — regardless of how many letters it holds, and regardless of how it scores on every other criterion. The cap applies identically to every clinic on this site, including affiliate partners. It lifts automatically the moment FDA posts a closeout letter for that provider — we verify closeouts weekly against FDA's own database, and a lifted cap is logged to the changelogthe same way a price change is. We ported this rule from our sister site (myglp1guides.com), where applying it moved six providers, including one from #3 to #31 in that site's ranking. On 2026-08-30 we ran the first systematic FDA warning-letter check across TRT Picks' full 20-provider roster (plus known operating entities) and found 3 open letters: Hims & Hers Health, Inc. (Hims), Maximus Health, Inc. (Maximus), and Joi and Blokes (Blokes) — see the full picture →.

Regulatory and legal actions — the same cap, a sibling rule

A federal or state enforcement body (FTC, a state Attorney General, or equivalent) filing a lawsuit or reaching a settlement that confirms or alleges a clinic deceived consumers about billing, cancellation, or data handling caps that clinic's Transparency & Trust score at 4.0 — the identical ceiling and identical rationale as the FDA rule above: a government body formally saying a provider wasn't straight with consumers is exactly what this criterion exists to measure. One cap per provider, whether it comes from an FDA letter, a regulatory action, or both.

It is not symmetric with the FDA rule in one respect, deliberately: FDA maintains a public database we can check on a schedule, so that cap lifts automatically on a closeout. No equivalent database exists for AG settlements or FTC suits, so a cap from this rule never lifts automatically — only a human, after independently confirming a lawsuit was dismissed or a settlement's mandated remediation was actually carried out, lifts it, logged the same way as any other correction.

Applying this rule on 2026-08-30 moved one provider's score: Keeps TRT's transparency dropped from an editorial 7.0 to 4.0, its overall score from 6.8 to 6.3, and its rank from #18 to #20 — last of the 20 clinics we track— following a $400,000 settlement the New York Attorney General secured from its parent company, Thirty Madison, Inc., on 2026-08-24 over deceptive subscription disclosures and a hard-to-cancel process. Keeps is the single largest source of traffic to this site; we are publishing this move, not softening it, for the same reason we publish every other one — the rule is only credible if it costs us something when it applies to the provider it costs the most. Separately, Hims & Hers Health, Inc. — already capped by its FDA letters — was sued by the FTC, California, and Utah on 2026-07-29 over sharing consumers' health data with Meta and Snap despite privacy claims; that finding doesn't move Hims' score further, since it was already at the floor, but it is disclosed on its own because it is a more directly on-point transparency finding than the letter already on file.

Integrity

Affiliate relationships are disclosed and never affect scores. We rank clinics we don't earn from on the same basis as those we do. Corrections are logged and we welcome evidence-based challenges.

Open caveat to the paragraph above (2 clinics)

On 2026-08-28 we re-scored the Price & Value criterion by comparing each clinic's starting price against others with the same pricing structure. That comparison assumed a separate field recorded whether a price was a permanent rate or a temporary one — and for most clinics that field was empty. So some Price & Value scores were set using a promotional or unconfirmed rate rather than a confirmed ongoing one.

In at least one case the affected price was one we can only see through our own affiliate link, and was lower than the price shown publicly. That means the sentence above — that we rank clinics we don't earn from on the same basis as those we do — is not currently true for every clinic's Price & Value score. It remains true of every other criterion, and commission has never entered any score.

Those scores are frozen at their current values and marked pending re-calculation rather than quietly adjusted, so nothing moves on a number we no longer stand behind. We are recording the stability of every clinic's price first; the re-calculation follows. Progress is in the changelog.

Corrections and tips

Email contact@trtpicks.com to report an error, flag a price that has moved, or tell us about a clinic we should be looking at. Useful things to include: the page you are looking at, what it says, and what you believe the correct figure is — a link to the clinic's own page is the strongest evidence there is, because that is the same source we check against.

We log corrections rather than editing quietly, so a report that holds up ends on the changelog with the date and what changed. The open caveat above is there for the same reason. If you tell us we got something wrong and we disagree, we will say so and explain why.
